Fellow Friday: Alumni Spotlight ft: CJ Harris, Leaders of Color Memphis

CJ Harris , MAT is a current doctoral candidate who has impacted learning environments internationally for half a decade. In 2020 at the height of the pandemic the city of Memphis recognized his work in the classroom to be worthy of the New Memphis teacher of Excellence award as well as many other subsequent awards. He founded a non-profit that feeds and clothes the homeless population downtown ,a mentorship program that supports and collects clothes for said program, and a partnership with an elementary school in AFRICA that gives high quality curriculums to villages that may not have access as well as other necessities.

Meet Leanna Pearson. Leanna graduated from the Leaders of Color - New York in 2022. Leanna currently leads legislative and community development initiatives as Chief of Staff at the New York State Assembly, and previously served in the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President. Before she worked in government, Leanna was a teacher, working with students in special education and mentoring other educators. Her commitment to education equity, community-building, and equitable policies exemplifies what Leaders of Color are all about.
