Introducing: Leaders of Color Inaugural Alumni Board

When Leaders of Color started in 2018, our vision was to create more opportunities for Black and Latinx community members to serve in positions of power and decision-making for their communities. As we reflected on our work, we saw an opportunity for our alumni to help us in the way they know best: to advise and guide us in our work to support more people to and through our program. 

We are excited to announce that we are leaning on the expertise and experience of our alumni via our new Alumni Board. The members of the Alumni Board will spearhead program creation, advise us on our curriculum, serve as mentors for our fellows, and provide our program with valuable resources and connections in their networks. 

We are deeply grateful for the commitment these alumni have made to the Leaders of Color program.

Alumni in Action: Leanna Pearson Fights for Equitable Policies

Meet Leanna Pearson. Leanna graduated from the Leaders of Color - New York in 2022. Leanna currently leads legislative and community development initiatives as Chief of Staff at the New York State Assembly, and previously served in the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President. Before she worked in government, Leanna was a teacher, working with students in special education and mentoring other educators. Her commitment to education equity, community-building, and equitable policies exemplifies what Leaders of Color are all about.
