Leaders of Color Class of 2024 Applications OPEN!

October 4, 2023

Leaders of Color is thrilled to announce that the application for the 2024 fellowship program is now open, and we're looking for dedicated individuals to join our work!

Who We Are:

Leaders of Color is not just a fellowship program; it's a movement dedicated to expanding the possibilities of community leadership. We're seeking builders and doers who share an unwavering commitment to making a difference in education equity. Our program offers a unique opportunity for individuals to deepen their understanding of civic and political engagement while gaining concrete skills to achieve their goals.

What You Can Expect:

If selected as a fellow, you'll engage with issues directly impacting our communities today, and dive deep into the historical issues that continue to shape our education systems and structures. Past fellows have achieved remarkable accomplishments, from winning political campaigns and writing policy recommendations to testifying in legislatures and organizing impactful town halls. They represent leadership in their communities, and you can too!

Fully-Funded Fellowship:

Our fellowship program is fully-funded, which means you can focus on what matters most—making a difference. With the support of the Leaders of Color team and a dedicated personal coach, you'll plan and execute a Capstone project aimed at supporting youth and promoting equitable education. Your project will leverage the strong community connections our program provides, ensuring that your efforts have a lasting impact.

Nominate a Leader:

We are also expanding our nomination process to encourage community members to nominate leaders within your network who share a deep commitment to improving education systems for Black and Hispanic children. Your nomination could be the catalyst for someone to join this transformative journey and create lasting change.

Application Details:

Applications for the 2024 fellowship program are open now and will be accepted until December 31, 2023. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a community of change-makers dedicated to education equity.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the Leaders of Color fellowship program, ideal candidates should:

  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to expanding education quality and equity, with a focus on benefiting Black and Latinx children. While experience and passion for early childhood education are preferred, they are not required.
  • Have a track record of leadership through community and civic action and service.
  • Believe in the power of public service and government in improving education systems. While an interest in running for public office within the next two years is preferred, it is not required.

  • Be located in Louisiana, Memphis, or Washington D.C.

Take the First Step:

If you're ready to be a part of the solution and make a tangible impact on education equity for Black and Latinx students, we invite you to apply or nominate a leader today! Together, we can transform our education systems, empower our communities, and create a brighter future for all.
