Leaders of Color on the Move in New York - Elections 2022

In New York, several Leaders of Color have been appointed to local office and are running for election in June 2022!

We are thrilled to announce that Maria Del Valle Brin (Class of 2021), Sean Farrow (Class of 2021), Kimberly McCoy (Class of 2021), Carolina Ramirez (Class of 2020), and Desi K. Robinson (Class of 2020) were appointed to serve on Manhattan Community Boards! All five leaders will serve in their positions from May 13, 2022 - May 31, 2024. In New York City, the Community Board is the official municipal body with the primary mission to advise elected officials and government agencies on matters affecting the social welfare of the district. Community Boards have an important advisory role in the city's budget, land use and zoning matters, municipal service delivery, and many other matters relating to their communities’ welfare.

New York is also gearing up for Election Day on June 28, 2022. We are excited to share that five Leaders of Color are running for office in New York in that election:

Clarisa Alayeto: State Committee, The Bronx

Dr. Anthony Andrews
: Assembly District 32

Malynda Rasco: Judicial Delegate and County Committee, Brooklyn

Hercules Reid: Assembly District 58

Ramdat Singh: District Leader, The Bronx

Our work is to improve education outcomes for Black and Latino children by identifying, training and elevating Black and Latino community leaders to create civic and political change. We are thrilled to see more Leaders of Color making change in their local communities!
