Memphis Week of Action: Supporting Leaders of Color Candidates

Join Leaders of Color for a week of action to support our alumni who are running for public office in the upcoming election on October 5, 2023!. There are several ways to support your local Leaders of Color Alumni and we would love to see you during our Week of ACTION!

Week of Action: 

September 9th Southern Heritage Classic Parade 9am 

Wear your Leaders of Color gear, and support an alumni of the program!

September 14th Phone Banking 5:30pm 

Bring a buddy and choose a candidate you want to support, and phone bank on their behalf. Join us virtually or in person!

September 16th Canvassing with Us! 9am 

Bring a buddy and choose a candidate you want to support, and canvass on their behalf! 

September 17th Conoce Los Candidatos (Latinx Candidate Forum) 4pm

Join us as a volunteer for the inaugural  Latinx Candidate Forum. (Partner orgs: MICAH, Amigos Foundation, Radio Ambiente, La Jefa, Resumen Noticias, Leaders of Color, Casa Luz)

September 28th Poll Volunteering

Join us as we volunteer at polling locations on the LAST day of Early Voting

Alumni in Action: Leanna Pearson Fights for Equitable Policies

Meet Leanna Pearson. Leanna graduated from the Leaders of Color - New York in 2022. Leanna currently leads legislative and community development initiatives as Chief of Staff at the New York State Assembly, and previously served in the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President. Before she worked in government, Leanna was a teacher, working with students in special education and mentoring other educators. Her commitment to education equity, community-building, and equitable policies exemplifies what Leaders of Color are all about.
