With Donald Trump re-elected for a second presidential term and Republican majorities likely in Congress, the policies proposed during his campaign are poised to reshape the educational landscape.

Leaders of Color is evolving and moving into a new phase of work. The Leaders of Color program will now work within DFER’s newest initiative—DFER South—in an effort to build a broader bench of education champions in areas facing tremendous challenges in education equity. 

Many key issues, like the economy, immigration, and abortion, are dominating the national conversation in the lead up to the 2024 elections. However, one critical issue that directly impacts the future of our communities—education—seems to have slipped from the forefront.

We are excited to announce that several Leaders of Color are running for election this November 2024! All Leaders of Color candidates are education champions and community leaders who are working to bring their expertise and passion to elected office.
